"There are some movie streaming sites that have tons of ads and annoying popups, plus, I'm afraid that sites track what i do, so I use Brave to block everything and it works just like chrome, except it doesn't track you or send your info to anyone or what you do online "

"The influence of the colonial British Empire is certainly seen in this story, but it actually takes place in colonized Africa, so, if you're looking for a book with some kind of Victorian setting, perhaps this might not be your first choice. It's also not very sympathetic towards the British empire, which is to be expected. Overall, I think it is a worthwhile work, but it should be considered a work about Africa, not about England."

"When I first started reading this book I was wondering why so many people were recommending it but now that I finished it I am recommending it as well. It takes a unique position and makes it work despite how emotionally hard it can be just to read it. There's a point maybe a quarter of the way in where the book just clicks and I started to care about what was happening. A must read."

"This book is a bit of a classic that I had on my bookshelf as a kid. I loved the whole POW story and I was really interested in Japanese culture. But as an adult, looking back at this book, I don't know. It made that whole POW story line sort of easy, less horrific. I guess for a kid that was a good thing. In hindsight, I'm not sure. I do think, on the other hand, there are better books about the British Empire and their colonies (I'm thinking of some set in India). So, as a best book for that category, I don't think this one works. "
